Wonder Camp: STEM + ART, July 14-18th
Join us for a hands-on, tech-free 5-day STEAM Art Adventure Camp! Designed for 3rd through 5th graders (entering or exiting), this camp will inspire creativity and critical thinking through engaging art projects that explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) without the need for digital devices.
Daily Themes and Activities:
Day 1: Geology & Art Exploration
Break geodes and investigate interior and layers
Discuss
Make a Large watercolor painting of a beautiful Geode.
Day 2: Physics/Technology (analog) & Kinetic Art Sculpture
Explore the concept of convection currents through a fun and visually engaging art experiment, the spinning spiral.
Experiment creating Kinetic Art Toys and shadow puppets.
Day 3: Engineering/Biology & Art Construction
Create a mini habitat for a hand sculpted creature of your choice using air dry clay.
Build structures using recycled materials like cardboard, paper tubes, and string. Encourages creativity in designing bridges, towers, or sculptures.
Discuss engineering principles like balance and strength through hands-on building challenges.
Day 4: Math & Art Giant Mural
Practice scaling Minecraft characters up and down to increase understanding.
Work on a collaborative art project that uses a scale technique to create an artwork 6 times larger than the original!!
Day 5: Integrated STEAM Art Studio and Celebration
9:00-11:30 Open studio time. Using new concepts, campers will continue to investigate the topics and materials covered in the camp to bring their own ideas to life!
11:30-12:00 Mini art show for campers to display their creations and share their learning with family and friends.
