Creative Women’s Circle: Altered Book
Whether you are a working professional, SAHM, working part time or at a point of transition in your life, you deserve a space to reflect and recharge. This circle allows you the opportunity to slow down, hit pause and choose yourself! There is nothing like the creative flow to help us feel more connected to ourselves, our needs and our desires. Time spent in that flow strengthens our hearts and our minds and improves overall health and wellness. One main goal of this women’s circle is to offer the opportunity to start and maintain a creative practice that can be continued into your every day life. You do not have to be an artist to appreciate and benefit from this circle, but an openness to play and a curiosity is recommended.
This creative women’s circle is an opportunity to connect with other likeminded individuals and explore your own creativity in the process. It is an opportunity to release and express our experiences (the good, the bad, the ugly), in order to step firmly into our lives with flexibility, strength and grounding.
Each session will begin with a mindfulness experience, a small intro into the art directive and then an hour will be dedicated to art making. To support the creative flow, we will have some music and be jammin’ in the process. This allows you to connect with others while making or tune into your own creative flow. We will end the circle with closed written reflection and sharing, as people are comfortable. Each session is two hours to ensure everyone has adequate time spent in their creative flow. Please note, this is not a therapy group but rather a creative wellness opportunity!
10/3: Session 1: Intro Into Intuitive Art Making: Starting The Altered Book
10/24: Session 2: Intuitive Collage
11/14: Session 3: Printmaking
12/5: Session 4: Movement
Each session will explore a different technique, with an overarching theme of intuitive art making. All of the sessions will utilize an altered book, (started during the first session) but other surfaces will be available to work upon. So, while all materials are provided, we do request you bring a book that calls to you. It is one you don’t mind changing, altering, getting messy - maybe a book that you would like to transform. Examples of mediums available during the circle: large 18x24 paper, paint, mixed media, collage, pastels (oil and chalk), charcoal, ink, markers and more.
